We had a nice campground in which to park our truck-camper last night. We fixed steak and potatoes, and were too tired to do the scant amount of dishes we accrued. So, in to bed, and around 3 in the morning, I was awakened by the sound of what I thought was a large house cat! I immediately thought the "meow" was pretty loud, and then thought that the smell of steak in the pan was an unwelcome invitation to some larger form of a carnivore. I was on pins and needles listening for any sounds of entry, but there was no further sound. In the morning, there was a very large paw print outside the camper, and near the stairs. What could it have been... maybe a mountain lion? Mystery reigns? We decided never to leave our dishes at night again.
Today, we are in Flagstaff, Arizona. We stopped on the way, at The Petrified Forest National Park--what a treat to see such amazing geological wonders and petroglyphs.
EEK!! That's pretty scary. At least you weren't in a tent at the time....
ReplyDeleteNice to know that you have some substantial walls around you when your traveling around in the wild!! Maybe you should have a sling shot or bb gun handy! Sounds like an exciting adventure so far, can't wait for the next episode!
